Encephalartos ferox
Encephalartos ferox is a small species whose genus is part of the botanical family zamiaceae. It has arching leaves edged with pinnules resembling holly leaves. Young shoots are coppery and downy.
The cones, bright orange to red, sometimes golden yellow, are ovoid on female plants and cylindrical on male plants. It is considered one of the most popular cultivated cycads.
