Phoenix rupicola
This stunning species from the foothills of the Himalayas has little in common with its relatives from drier climates, and, with its long, elegantly arching, shiny green fronds and smooth, slender trunk, it actually resembles a coconut palm. It is easy and fast growing, suitable for tropical as well as temperate climates, and will even tolerate moderate frosts. In cultivation, Phoenix rupicola has become hugely popular in recent years.
